Designing a top-of-pole solar mount doesn’t get much faster or simpler than it does with the Solar Mount AutoDesigner. A few project parameters and installation details are all you need to get a mount design, price quote, and complete calculation packet in just minutes. Installers and end-users can use this tool to drive the progress of their projects, especially at its early stages when it can be tough to envision the final result.

While the mount design method is fast and simple, there are solar projects that don’t need anything more than a few simple options. For these cases, a pre-configured MT Solar mount is a perfect fit.

What Is a Pre-Configured Solar Mount?

A pre-configured solar mount is the same as the custom, made-to-order mounts that are manufactured based on the specifics from our Solar Mount AutoDesigner. But instead of numerous configurations, pre-configured mounts include a set selection of designs. This selection includes options that work for all types of project goals. Various mount duty classifications and PV module quantities and sizes mean that pre-configured mounts can satisfy a range of energy output and location demands.

We wanted to provide these options for installers and end users who are looking for a simple way to see multiple solar mount options at a glance, review prices, and move forward with an order.

What Are the Benefits of A Pre-Configured Solar Mount?

Pre-configured solar mounts offer all of the benefits of top-of-pole mounts created in the AutoDesigner. They’re configured using the same precision, real-time engineering checks and detailed location data that are applied during the customization process. As a result, they serve as a strong and reliable racking solution that will contribute to sustainable energy independence for decades.

A Safe, Straightforward, and Speedy Installation Process

Pre-configured solar mounts feature all of the components and capabilities of custom configured mounts. They are meant to be installed directly into the ground through a simple but strong embedment into concrete foundation. The mount is built around and set at the top of a steel pole, which can be easily and economically procured from many sources. The assembly is efficient and intuitive. The vast majority of the process can be completed on the ground, which is safer and easier for installers.

Protects and Supports PV Modules

All pre-configured mounts include Tamarack 3.1 rails as a standard. This rail kit further simplifies the installation. It facilities thorough bonding of the PV modules and a tidier wiring process. Installers will find a lot to appreciate about this kit while  assembling the mount and end users will gain peace of mind knowing that their solar investment is supported and protected. Tamarack rails deliver robust strength and a secure hold. They’re a significant contributor to the integrity of our products.

Versatile, Dual-Use Solar

Pre-configured mounts provide the ground clearance and adaptability that makes them versatile enough to fit with all types of properties and into various terrain, including ground that poses costly challenges to conventional ground-based solar racking. Higher ground clearance and an embedded foundation means that the ground below the mount can be safely accessed and maintained with ease.

Optimal Year-Round Energy Output

Pre-configured mounts feature a manual tilt adjust that controls the position of the solar array. With a simple cranking action, the array can be set in an position for optimal sun exposure. As a result, energy production can be maximized all year round. The manual tilt adjust is also useful for tilting the mount for maintenance and to clear any build-up or debris from the array, such as snow, pollen, fallen leaves, and dust.

Is a Pre-Configured Solar Mount Right for Your Solar Project?

Pre-configured mounts are an excellent option if your project has fairly straightforward requirements. If your needs can be met by the parameters below, you’ll find ready-to-order options in our current selection of pre-configured mounts.

  • A solar array that consists of 8, 9, 12, 15, 20, or 25 modules.
  • Snow loads between 5 psf and 40 psf and wind loads of 105 mph, 115 mph, and 160 mph.
  • PV module dimensions that are either 74 by 41 inches or 87 by 44 inches

Other project factors will affect whether or not a pre-configured mount is a suitable option. If there is any uncertainty, you can reach out to our design team through our Design and Estimate Assistance form to discuss your project specifics or contact us directly.

Before You Order a Pre-Configured Solar Mount

A pre-configured solar mount makes the ordering process quick and easy, but there are a few things to prepare to ensure your project is a success.

Pre-configured solar mounts need all the applicable tools and add-ons to complete the installation. This includes a lift bracket and chain hoist and micro-inverter adaptors for every optimizer, inverter, or automatic shutdown device.

Depending on the requirements affecting your area, you may need stamped engineering drawings as part of the documentation to get permitting for your project.

It will also be necessary to coordinate the appropriate services and equipment for the installation. You can review what’s included with every MT Solar order, what’s available as an add-on, and what equipment and services are required for the assembly and installation to learn what you’ll need for your project.
